Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 State of the City Luncheon at The Forum in Mill Creek Town Center!

Attendees heard updates from Mayor Stephanie Vignal, Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Duque, City Manager Martin Yamamoto, and Deputy City Manager Laurel Brock on Mill Creek’s recent accomplishments, economic development progress, and our 2040 Vision and Strategic Plan.

Mill Creek City Hall and Passport Services will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25th.

Passport Services will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26th, at 8:00 a.m.

We also invite you to join us for our Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony on the morning of May 25th at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Veterans Monument at Library Park (15429 Bothell Everett Hwy.)

Mayor Stephanie Vignal proclaimed May 3-9, 2026, as National Small Business Week in the City of Mill Creek at last Tuesday’s Council meeting.

To mark the occasion, Mayor Vignal and Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Duque visited two local businesses to present each with an official proclamation.

Paddywack, one of the original Mill Creek Town Center businesses, has proudly served pets and their people for 21 years. Owners Adam Felker and Shane Somerville, who have led the shop for the past 12 years, continue to celebrate the privilege of being small business owners in this wonderful community.

They also visited Yoga in the Center, located in the heart of Mill Creek Town Center and owned by Janet Clayton. Janet embraces a welcoming, come-as-you-are philosophy—believing that all yoga is good yoga, and that no one can ever be “bad” at it.

We’re grateful for Janet, Adam, Shane, and all our small businesses, and for the vital role they play in making Mill Creek vibrant, welcoming, and uniquely ours.

A memorable and meaningful evening at Mill Creek's City Council meeting on Tuesday!

The City was honored to welcome Representative Brandy Donaghy for a recap of the 2026 legislative session. We appreciate her thoughtful updates and her willingness to hear our local priorities so we can continue working together to support the Mill Creek community in the 2027 session.

It was also a meeting full of recognition. The City Council proclaimed:

• May 2026 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
• May 11–17 as National Police Week
• National Small Business Week, with Mayor Stephanie Vignal and Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Duque set to visit several Mill Creek small businesses to present the proclamations in person.

Council also received an inspiring update by Chief Stan White on the extraordinary work our Citizen Patrol volunteers contribute every day to keep our community safe and connected.

In fact, most of them are carefully designed Stormwater Facilities that play a big role in keeping our community healthy and resilient.

These engineered ponds help collect and convey stormwater, especially during heavy rains. They also work to improve water quality by filtering out pollutants before the water moves downstream. By slowing and controlling the flow of runoff, they help reduce flooding, protect local streams, and support healthier ecosystems.

So the next time you pass one of these ponds, remember you’re seeing part of the city’s stormwater infrastructure at work; quietly protecting our waterways and neighborhoods!

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, the City proudly proclaimed April as Sikh Heritage Month, with a fantastic turnout of local residents joining us to accept the honor.
The City Council also recognized April 28th as the 4th Annual Fentanyl Awareness Day. This important proclamation was accepted by Leila of the Sawyer Culberson Project, along with her family, in support of ongoing efforts to raise awareness and save lives.

Our new Digging Ancient Ruins class for grades K-8 is now open for registration! Discover the fundamentals of archaeology with this fun, hands-on class! You'll learn about cave drawings, hieroglyphs, and make your own pictographs. Record your discoveries on camera and document your findings in a journal.

Digging Ancient Ruins has two upcoming 4-week openings here at City Hall North in the Small Community Room:
• Tuesdays, May 12 - June 02 (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
• Tuesdays, June 09 - June 30 (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

A huge thank you to all 42 volunteers who joined us for Earth Day and America’s 250th Day of Service this past Saturday!

We hosted cleanups at two locations:

• One team – including Councilmember Connie Allison and her husband Chris, Public Works Director Mike Todd, members of the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board, Key Club volunteers, and City staff – removed approximately 20 cubic yards of invasive plants, improving pedestrian sightlines along 35th Ave near Cougar Park.
• Another dedicated group, with volunteers traveling from as far as Sultan and Lake Stevens, joined Mill Creek residents and local businesses to collect 15 large bags of litter from neighborhood streets and along the North Creek Trail.
