Mill Creek to Unveil Veterans Monument at Community Ribbon Cutting

Expanded Veterans Monument with additional blank pillars waiting for additional veteran names.

The City of Mill Creek is pleased to announce the upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly completed Veterans Monument and Library Park Rehabilitation Project. The celebration will take place on Monday, October 19th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Library Park (15429 Bothell Everett Hwy.) and the community is invited to attend.

This project was developed to address long standing needs at Library Park and to expand the Veterans Monument. As part of the upgrade, six new monument pillars were added, providing space for additional veteran’s names. The improvements also include playground safety fencing, drainage upgrades, enhanced irrigation, new tables and benches, improved monument lighting, and repairs to sidewalks and circulation paths to support ADA accessibility. The project also introduces new playground equipment arriving in early November, and a ribbon cutting celebration for the completed Library Park enhancements will follow shortly thereafter.

Construction on the Veterans Monument and Library Park Rehabilitation Project began in June 2026, with planning efforts extending back to 2024. During this time, the City was awarded a $250,000 grant from Snohomish County and a $250,260 grant from the Department of Commerce’s Local and Community Projects Program. In addition, the Mill Creek City Council approved $360,000 in reallocated Rehabilitation, Preservation, and Beautification (RPB) funds, formerly known as ARPA.

The City recognizes the vital contributions of Senator John Lovick and Snohomish County Councilmember Jared Mead, whose advocacy helped secure the grant funding essential to bringing this project to life.

The City further expresses its deep appreciation to all who supported the project, including Chuck Wright, the Mill Creek City Council, and members of the Art & Beautification and Park & Recreation Boards. Their dedication and collaboration have created a space that honors our veterans and enriches the community.

The public is encouraged to join the City of Mill Creek for the ribbon cutting ceremony. For event details, visit millcreekwa.gov/events.
