In fact, most of them are carefully designed Stormwater Facilities that play a big role in keeping our community healthy and resilient.

These engineered ponds help collect and convey stormwater, especially during heavy rains. They also work to improve water quality by filtering out pollutants before the water moves downstream. By slowing and controlling the flow of runoff, they help reduce flooding, protect local streams, and support healthier ecosystems.

So the next time you pass one of these ponds, remember you’re seeing part of the city’s stormwater infrastructure at work; quietly protecting our waterways and neighborhoods!

🦴 Calling All Young Explorers! 🪏

Our new Digging Ancient Ruins class for grades K-8 is now open for registration! Discover the fundamentals of archaeology with this fun, hands-on class! You'll learn about cave drawings, hieroglyphs, and make your own pictographs. Record your discoveries on camera and document your findings in a journal.

Digging Ancient Ruins has two upcoming 4-week openings here at City Hall North in the Small Community Room:
• Tuesdays, May 12 - June 02 (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
• Tuesdays, June 09 - June 30 (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

A huge thank you to all 42 volunteers who joined us for Earth Day and America’s 250th Day of Service this past Saturday!

We hosted cleanups at two locations:

• One team – including Councilmember Connie Allison and her husband Chris, Public Works Director Mike Todd, members of the Mill Creek Youth Advisory Board, Key Club volunteers, and City staff – removed approximately 20 cubic yards of invasive plants, improving pedestrian sightlines along 35th Ave near Cougar Park.
• Another dedicated group, with volunteers traveling from as far as Sultan and Lake Stevens, joined Mill Creek residents and local businesses to collect 15 large bags of litter from neighborhood streets and along the North Creek Trail.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help keep Mill Creek clean and beautiful!

Thank you to everyone who joined the Mill Creek Police Department and Citizens Patrol for our first-ever Get the Scoop from a Cop event! We loved seeing so many of our young community members yesterday afternoon. A huge thank you to Cold Stone Creamery for generously hosting and serving free ice cream — it was delicious!

🏀 Kids Spring Sports Has Openings! ⚽

We still have limited spots for registration open for various kids sports, including soccer, tennis, and basketball! If you're looking to get a jumpstart on summer, now is the time!

• Skyhawks Soccer meets on Mondays, May 4th-June 8th at 4:00 p.m. (ages 7-9) and 5:00 p.m. (ages 10-12)
• Skyhawks Tennis meets on Tuesdays, May 5th-June 9th at 4:00 p.m. (ages 7-9) and 5:00 p.m. (ages 10-12)
• Skyhawks Basketball meets on Thursdays, May 7th-June 11th at 4:00 p.m. (ages 7-9) and 5:00 p.m. (ages 10-12)

Kids & Adults Beginning Improv 🎭 Open for Registration!

Learn the fundamentals of acting while exercising your funny bone with these new offerings for beginning improv and acting! Think fast on your feet and make some new friends!

We have a variety of openings for Beginning Improv classes for Fridays, May 8th through June 19th:

• Beginning Improv for Kids (Ages 7-13) runs from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
• Beginning Improv for Adults (Ages 18+) runs from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

We also have registration open for Beginning Improv for Teens, as well as Intermediate and Advanced classes for adults scheduled for later this summer!

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Stephanie Vignal officially proclaimed April 19–25 as National Library Week!

To celebrate, she and Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Duque visited the Mill Creek Sno-Isle Library to meet with Library Manager Cass Mabbott and staff. They shared their appreciation for the team’s outstanding service to our community and presented them with the signed proclamation.

We have openings for a variety of Family Martial Arts classes for Tuesdays, April 21st through June 2nd:

• Tiny Tigers (Ages 4-6) runs from 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
• Tiger Kids Beginners (Ages 6.5+) runs from 5:35 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
• Tiger Kids Colored Belts (Ages 6.5+) runs from 5:35 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
