State of the City

The State of the City is an annual address from the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem moderated by a special guest. Discussion include past accomplishments, City Council priorities, financial reporting, completed projects, and initiatives for the upcoming year and beyond.
State of the CityWatch and listen as LAF Tech founder Brian Trendler has a conversation with City of Mill Creek Mayor Brian Holtzclaw and Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Vignal.

City Owned Properties: I understand the City has plans to build a multipurpose facility on the acreage north of the Mill Creek Sports Park known as the DRCC (Dobson, Remillard, Church, and Cook) - can you tell us what the City is considering?

Can residents get involved and provide their input on what they’d like  to see done with this property?

ARPA Funds: I've heard the City received more than $5 Million dollars in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for use by December 2024. Can you tell me more about how the City plans to utilize these funds?

Please share some examples of how the funds have already been used.

City Survey: I know the City conducted its first city-wide Performance Survey last year and the results presented at a recent Council meeting. How does the City plan to address one of the top comments from the survey about the need for an increased police presence in Mill Creek?

City Maintenance: I've noticed areas of Mill Creek that need better maintenance, particularly overgrown foliage in medians - what is the City doing to revitalize these and the other parts of the City?

Legislative Process: I understand City Council can be quite involved in the Legislative process; can you share anything about Mill Creek’s involvement?

City Staffing: As with many cities, I understand Mill Creek staffing levels dropped significantly during the pandemic. Can you share a little about where the City stands now. Are things looking up?

South County Fire: Tell me more about South County Fire and some of the new resources they have brought to our City

Property Taxes: Why have our property taxes gone up so much in one year – some say as much as 39%? Is this because of the Fire Annexation?

Tell me a little about why you do what you do?
