Art & Beautification Board Recognizes 2025 Great Garden Award Recipients

The Mill Creek Art & Beautification Board (A&B) will present the recipients of the Great Garden Awards to City Council during their September 9 Council meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The A&B Board, chaired by Peter Furtado, takes yearly tours of Mill Creek homes and gardens, then nominates residents who have demonstrated creativity in their garden spaces and dedicated considerable time and effort to beautifying their properties.

“One of our goals for the Art and Beautification Board focuses on encouraging and celebrating community members who enthusiastically and creatively design their yards to delight passersby,” said Jeanne Smart, Vice Chair of the Mill Creek A&B Board. “It is a joyful experience for me when I am able to meet the winners, honor their work, and see the joy with which they receive this recognition!”

The A&B Board met on July 23rd to review the nominations, and twelve recipients were selected, including Janice Balla, Michael & Ellen Castro, Larry Liu, Julie Lundquist, Mircea Padineant, Gary & Janna Parsons, and Bob & Judy Scott.

“I’ve poured a lot of love and hard work into my garden, and it’s incredibly gratifying to know that it contributes to the beauty of our community,” said Larry Liu, in response to his Great Garden Award selection.
